History of the JIKA brand

The production of ceramics in Znojmo dates back to the 19th century – the oldest in continental Europe. Back then, the figural and decorative elements produced were a testament to the remarkable skills of the local craftsmen. Shortly after 1920, the Znojmo craftsmen were also the first in Europe to produce kiln-fired washbasins, bathtubs and sinks. Today, JIKA products are manufactured in two Czech factories – in Bechyně and Znojmo.

With the 1991 merger with the Swiss company Keramik Holding LAUFEN (www.laufen.com), the most successful Czech manufacturers of sanitary ceramics are able to substantially expand their product lines. Individual products are manufactured using natural materials and the latest technologies. The company’s strategy focuses on compelling design, high quality, perfect functionality a comprehensive product portfolio in all price ranges.

From 1999, the subsidiary LAUFEN CZ handles business interests in the central and eastern European markets. All of its brands (LAUFEN, Roca, JIKA) are distinguished by high-quality products, as documented by international ISO 9001 quality certification.
