1930s Bathroom Renovation

How to renovate an existing bathroom? Here are a few tips and a real-life example. We have renovated a bathroom in modern and simple style for the winner that participated in Jika brand competition for a new bathroom worth 50 thousand CZK.

Bathroom story

The bathroom is located in the oldest part of the house that was built by grandparents of the current owner. Practically no major renovations of this bathroom took place through the years. The original condition was therefore unsatisfactory. In the bathroom there was nearly no free space, as it was occupied by the bathtub, the toilet, and the washing machine. Heating was sourced from a gas flow-heater. The bathroom therefore called not only for a more up-to-date looks, but also modifications in terms of functionality and convenience.

Jika brand solutions – focused on space and timeless design

The goal of the renovation was to make this bathroom a place for everyone to feel nice and start (and finish) each day here with pleasure. We have therefore tried to create enough space here and brighten this bathroom with lightness and airiness. The gas flow-heater was replaced by floor- and wall heating elements. In order to gain even more free space, we opted for (as agreed with the owner) a shower cabin to save space while providing full comfort. Pleasant showering experience is highlighted by a thermostatic faucet with nearly instant temperature setting and with the benefit of higher comfort combined with water savings.

High emphasis was also placed on utmost bathroom hygiene. We have therefore opted for a rimless toilet that prevents deposition of soil and bacteria at hard-to-reach places, making it easy to keep the toilet clean without much effort. A shower toilet was also installed to save space and provide all benefits of a bidet.

Our selection of bathroom furnishings was focused on timeless design that will never go out of fashion. The shower cabin is complemented by a modern rectangular washbasin bowl with a high washbasin mixer. Roca wall and floor tiles contribute to the overall sleek appearance. To make the room airy and make it appear larger, we decided for bright wall tiles complemented with décors and floor tiles to enliven the atmosphere.
