Prague Gallery Opening

LAUFEN CZ TO PRESENT NEW PRAGUE GALLERY SHOWROOM DURING DESIGNBLOK. The increasingly popular annual exhibition of design and fashion is celebrating its 16th birthday. The main theme of this year’s Designblok, which takes place in Prague from 7 to 12 October 2014, is “Childhood”. The entire programme is therefore conceived as a game for children and adults alike.

Laufen CZ has embraced the game concept in its own way: It is opening its brand new interactive showroom on náměstí I.P. Pavlova during the festival. Designblok visitors will be able to see not only icons of bathroom ceramics here but also revolutionary newcomers.

Here to launch the new “Prague Art Gallery of the Bathroom” is the world-renowned designers Roberto and Ludovica Palomba, who personally inaugurates the gallery on Thursday 9 October at 18:00 and will present a lecture for all those with a keen interest in bathroom design. Among Roberto and Ludovica Palomba’s best-known designs for the bathroom are the Palomba and Kartell collections by Laufen.

Help spread the word about the Jika brand’s collection

Jika’s unique washbasins, which had their genesis at the 2014 International Ceramics Symposium in Bechyně, are being shown in the main exhibition venue, the Hotel Evropa – an Art Nouveau landmark. They were designed by leading Czech and global names in the field. And Jika has a game planned for visitors to the historical building: They can vote on which of the exhibited pieces will be produced in a limited edition next year under the Jika Art label.

Superstudio Evropa offers visitors a compelling contrast: Top interior design brands presenting their modern wares in a historical building. Visitors also have the extraordinary opportunity to see the hotel interiors in their original state before a planned reconstruction.

Designblok 2014 takes place from October 7 to 12. Details about the event and exhibition venues can be found at www.designblok.cz.

Jika Supports Budding Design Student

JIKA, the Czech manufacturer of bathroom equipment, offered a unique opportunity to students of the Ceramic Design Studio from Pilsen. While working on their final projects, young designers had the opportunity to experience the development of their own solitary pieces right in the manufacturing factory in Bechyně. If you buy one of those student works, you support not only students as such, but also this unique project that aims to support young and budding talents.
