Ditmara ceramics factory, the first of its kind in Europe, was established in Znojmo in 1878 by the former captain of the imperial Austro-Hungarian army, dr. Rudolf Ditmar. The factory produced namely chinaware and majolica.
JIKA, the Czech manufacturer of bathroom equipment, offered a unique opportunity to students of the Ceramic Design Studio from Pilsen. While working on their final projects, young designers had the opportunity to experience the development of their own solitary pieces right in the manufacturing factory in Bechyně. Results of this time-consuming and technically challenging project will be displayed by the Laufen Bathroom Gallery in Prague.
